Provided is a list of tools to purchase for this program and future career. You will find pictures to illustrate each item, helpful descriptions on what to buy and what they are used for. For your convenience, these tools have been categorized according to priority.

ADDITIONAL TIPS:

  • Write your name on most – if not all – of your tools. Working areas are quite spread out and there is a tendency of leaving tools lying around. Names make it very useful for everyone to keep track!

  • Keep your receipts! Tool expenses can be claimed as school expenses/tuition on tax return forms.

ORDERING FROM PO/WEBER:

  • To order from PO/Gord, fill out the PO Specialty Order form (make sure to fill the form with your pando student email, as well as send an etransfer to gordon.ruder@gbcpando.com). The form can be submitted multiple times as needed.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

The main PPE requirements for the program are gloves when handling chemicals, gloves when moulding plastic, eye protection, ear protection and respirators. There is a variety of these products available at your local hardware stores but the school also connects with a safety product specialist which sells these products. Students should ensure that the products purchased meet the safety requirements set by the program.

PPE is required for the first lab session, on the Thursday of the first week of school.

The only requirement for footwear is that students wear closed toed shoes, steel toes are not mandatory.

Weber Safety

The program requires that students obtain a mask fit test certificate to ensure that individual respirators and masks are meeting the safety requirements for the chemicals used in the lab. The individual performing the testing will let you know what size of respirator works best for you for order.

All orders from the Weber online form must be submitted before the first week of school in order to receive them for the first week. There will be a deadline for orders at the end of the first Wednesday orientation session in order to receive them before lab sessions begin the following week.

The orders will be shipped to the school and to be picked up in UG75 (clinical casting room). The shipment will be set to arrive on the first week, before orientation sessions in the lab begin.

  • Payment in full is due at time of pick-up

  • Mask Fit Test costs 25$, payable in cash only. Guys, be sure to have acceptable facial hair
